Aegis Ship Trainer: Internal Comms Configuration
DACS 1
Each of the 8 operators can simultaneously transmit on one radio or intercom channel while receiving 2 voice streams on the left and right headset speakers.
The Operator Panel provides the audio interface for the operator headsets, monitors Push-to-talk (PTT) activity, and provides visual indication to the operators regarding the status of the radio.
The top orange arrow represents the drive lines for the radio panel's visual indicators. This information comes from the external comms environment via the host interface network (blue line). The lower orange arrows represent the PTT sense lines that are transferred to the external comms environment via the host interface network.
PTT status and radio control "switchology" is transferred to the external comms environment as represented by the large orange/blue arrow.
All audio to and from the 8 operators is processed by the DACS' two Waveform Synthesizer DSP cards (represented by red lines) and transferred to the external comms environment by the voice network (green line).
Audio from an operator's boom microphone out to the external comms environment is represented by the large red/green arrow.
