ASTi was selected to design the simulated communications and environmental audio systems for a series of Apache Longbow trainers to be fielded at a number of locations.

Multiple Longbow trainers can be networked together via local or wide area network. Each DACS processing node contains one high-performance Waveform Synthesizer DSP card used to deliver environmental aural cues via two sets of four speakers and subwoofers positioned around and above the pilot and copilot, represented in orange. Each node also contains a Time Division Multiplex (TDM) DSP card used in conjunction with the RIUs and AIUs to transfer audio to and from the pilot(s), instructor(s) and observer(s), shown in red.

Each trainer is fully DIS-compliant, and is HLA-upgradable (upgrades expected in the future).
