AWACS: Single Operator Station
In Interactive Simulation Mode, Operator/Trainee audio out (from boom mic) and audio in (to headset) is transferred to and from the DIS network via the ASTi DACS processing node shared between three other Operator/Trainees (not shown).
Single Operator Station
In Stand-Alone Mode, audio from the Operator/Trainee's boom mic triggers the host computer's voice-recognition system (right blue arrow). The DACS also processes the audio out, and directs it back to the Operator's headset (top) as sidetone, as well as to the Instructor headset (bottom), represented by the left blue & purple arrows.
The audio resulting from the host computer's voice-recognition system is then processed by the DACS (gold), and distributed to both the Operator & Instructor headsets (green arrows).
The host computer's record capability is facilitated by a "tap" onto the Operator's incoming headset audio. Because the operator hears his own voice (as sidetone), and the audio from the host computer, the entire training session is recorded (represented by the orange arrow).
Each of the 37 Operator/Trainee stations have the same configuration.
