Simulation Communications

Each vehicle crew consists of a commander, a gunner, and a driver all sitting at reconfigurable desktop simulators. The vehicle communications assets include simulated radios and crew intercom, enabling vehicle-to-vehicle, instructor-to-crew, and inter-crew communications. Each crew member controls his communications assets using an ASTi Hand-Held Terminal (HHT) unit. The HHT provides a low-cost, robust, and effective interface to radios and intercoms for operators where high-fidelity simulated radio panels are not available.

The communications system is designed to allow the exercise director and OPFOR commander access to all radios, and provides the ability to broadcast on an override "all-call" channel to all operators. They also have the capability to selectively monitor crew intercom communications, if desired.
