After-Action Review (AAR)

All radio and intercom voice streams are recorded over the network using a Packetized Data Unit (PDU) logger for later use during AAR. One of the communications DACS nodes can be reconfigured over the network via Model Builder's remote restart capability to serve as the AAR audio playback device. During AAR, the PDU logger "transmits" each individual audio stream from the training exercise to the network using its own frequency. The DACS node is configured with a number of radio and intercom assets tuned to each of the corresponding audio streams' frequencies. The instructor uses an HHT unit as an audio channel selector, indicating to the DACS node which frequencies (that is, which audio streams) to route to the external speakers. Any combination of available audio streamsÑfrom one stream to all streamsÑmay be played back during AAR.
