Dismounted Infantry Simulators

The dismounted infantry simulators (part of the "Squad Synthetic Environment") are the core of the DBBL's virtual simulation. These simulators provide a full-immersive battlefield environment for soldier rifle units (teams and squads). Leaders navigate (tracked by sensors) through a virtual world programmed to present scenarios in various terrains, featuring a variety of hostile threats that must be fought and overcome.
The ASTi communications system is configured to provide each leader with a simulated FM radio, which is software pre-settable (by system administrators prior to the exercise) and tunable (by an operator using an HHT during the exercise). This radio realizes comms with other units tuned to the same net. The communications system also provides the entire unit with a common intercom bus for intra-unit comms.
