Constructive Simulators

The DBBL features several workstation-based operator communications stations, including:
  • Blue Force
  • Opposing Force (OPFOR)
  • Command Force
Operator stations are configured in the software model to function in basically the same way:
  • A non-blocking communications matrix is enabled on each ASTi server, consisting of up to sixteen operators by sixteen simulated FM radios.
  • System administrators pre-define the radio and intercom communications capabilities of each operator using a simple script file (the INI file). Operator radio and intercom capabilities include: receive and transmit, receive only and no access.
  • Administrators also use the INI file to pre-set radio nets and other system parameters.
  • During the exercise, operators use their HHTs and PTTs to control their comms.
