Reconfigurable Flight Trainer (RFT)
July 22, 2003 – ASTi systems will provide simulated radio communications for the U.S. Army's UH-60L Black Hawk Battlestaff Training Simulator (BaTS) to be fielded at the Aviation Warfighting Simulation Center (AWSC), Ft. Rucker, AL. CAE (Tampa, FL) is the program's prime contractor.
The UH-60L BaTS will satisfy multiple Army aviation objectives, including: mission rehearsal exercises (MRE); resident leader and operator training; research, development and acquisition (RDA); training, exercise and military operations (TEMO) training events; and advanced concept requirements (ACR) simulation development efforts. ASTi's high-fidelity simulated radio suite provides fourteen operator positions with access to multiple FM/AM VHF/UHF combinations with COMSEC/TRANSEC capabilities, a multi-channel intercom system for flightcrew and battlestaff communication, and navigation radio tones.
The UH-60L BaTS trainer will interoperate with existing ASTi network communications systems installed in CAVSIM* & AVCATT-A* devices, and various AWCS facilities comprising brigade & digital Tactical Operation Centers (TOCs), stealth & battlemaster stations, and after-action review (AAR). It will also interoperate with future Flight School XXI collective simulations. The CAE order includes additional digital TOC, battlemaster, and stealth system follow-ons to extend the radio communications capabilities of the burgeoning AWSC training facility.
