Joint Systems Training Exercise
FORSCOM insignia December 16, 2004 – ASTi systems recently played a key role in Joint Systems Training Exercise (JSTE) 05-01, providing the simulated radio communications environment for military sites across the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico, connected by a secure wide area network.
Many of the participating sites employed their existing ASTi Digital Audio Communications Systems (DACS), which are installed in aircraft simulators and virtual and constructive operations centers. ASTi DACS bridged live secure radio traffic (via HYX-57 Radio Wireline Interfaces) to the simulation network.
JSTEs are joint tactical air operation training events, sponsored by Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) and executed by United States Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), Joint Interoperability Division (JID).
ASTi provided technical help desk support services throughout the exercise, assisting FORSCOM staff with installation and integration tasks.
ASTi-equipped sites participating in JSTE 05-01 included:
  • 141st Air Control Squadron, Aguadilla, PR
  • 728th Air Control Squadron, Eglin AFB, FL
  • 552nd Operational Support Squadron, Tinker AFB, OK
  • 11th Air Defense Brigade, Fort Bliss, TX
  • 505th Communications Squadron, Hurlburt Field, FL
  • Joint National Integration Center, Schriever AFB, CO
