Synapse Expansion at Ft. Polk JRTC
May 17, 2005 –
ASTi recently delivered five (5) additional 8-net Synapse Radio-Data Network Bridges to the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Ft. Polk, LA. The Synapse systems were delivered under contract with the U.S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) Joint Training, Analysis, and Simulations Center (JTASC). The JRTC previously received ASTi Synapse systems in August 2004, for use in the JNTC-sponsored Air Warrior II exercise.
This latest delivery significantly expands ASTi voice communications capabilities at the JRTC, bridging 40 additional channels of live military radio traffic to IP data networks such as the Joint National Training Capability (JNTC) persistent network. The ability to transport live radio traffic over IP data networks has many powerful benefits: linking geographically distant radio sites via long-haul networks, linking operators with live radios and those with ASTi simulated radios (such as those found in virtual flight simulators and constructive war-gaming workstations), bridging voice communications between incompatible radios, and logging live radio traffic for after-action-review (AAR).
ASTi also delivered three (3) new Telestra processing platforms to JRTC, adding native High Level Architecture (HLA) capabilities to the radio simulation and communications environment. The Telestra platforms also feature ASTi’s Remote Management System (RMS) which provide users with an elegant way to use a standard web browser to monitor and manage local and networked ASTi resources (equipment, software, models). RMS is a critical feature for the system administrators who have to configure and maintain the many ASTi systems installed over an incredibly disperse area at Ft. Polk, ranging from the Joint Operations Center to a series of remote, live radio towers.
