More FSXXI Equipment
July 6, 2005 –
ASTi recently delivered two (2) systems to Rockwell-Collins Simulation and Training (Binghamton, NY) for use on OH-58D Kiowa Warrior simulators being supplied under sub-contract to L-3 Communications as part of the U.S. Army’s Flight School XXI (FSXXI) program at the Army Aviation Center at Fort Rucker, AL. These simulators are two examples of Advanced Aircraft Virtual Simulators (AAVS) that, along with other aircraft type-specific AAVS and Reconfigurable Training Devices (RCTDs), will form the backbone of the FSXXI facility.
Each of the systems supplied comprises an ASTi DACS and Telestra unit providing advanced networked DIS and/or HLA communication and full-fidelity environmental sound simulation capabilities. In addition to the core hardware, ASTi supplied a full-service engineering package to Rockwell-Collins including custom models for both communications and environmental cue, post-delivery support, and a three-day training course for Rockwell-Collins engineering personnel that took place in June, 2005.
Under a separate contract award, ASTi received its second equipment follow-on order directly from L-3 Communications for FSXXI. ASTi delivered a total of 7 Digital Audio Communication Systems (DACS) to L-3’s Arlington, TX facility. Six (6) of the DACS systems are designated for the RCTD manned modules, and one (1) additional DACS system will provide network comms to the RCTD Instructor/Operator Station (IOS).
These orders follow-on from the original FSXXI order placed in the Fall of 2004, and these systems will all interoperate seamlessly with the original equipment now in final integration and test phases.
