August 11, 2005 – ASTi is preparing to ship six (6) Telestra MBV systems to Boeing for use on a series of Visual Environment Maintenance Trainers (VEMT) for F/A-18E “Super Hornet” aircraft. The VEMT is designed to train maintenance personnel to perform avionics, environmental control system, and electrical system maintenance tasks on a realistic replica of an F/A-18E airframe.

Each VEMT device will include a Telestra platform to provide communication system capabilities and environmental sound cues. Communication capabilities that the system will provide include VHF/UHF Comm System functional test, VHF/UHF Comm System relay mode test, Secure Speech functional test, Secure Speech relay mode test, MIDS functional test, and Cockpit Video Recorder System functional test. Environmental sound cues include equipment cooling fans, engines and auxiliary power unit (APU).

This order confirms the adoption of the state-of-the-art Telestra MBV platform as the system of choice for the Boeing Corporation, and brings the total number of Telestra systems ordered by Boeing to over 100. The VEMT order includes provision of support services including initial model development, a 3-day training course at ASTi’s Herndon, VA facility, and post-delivery engineering support.
