Five ASTi Systems Attain Level D Certifications
Aug 06, 2010 – This year is turning out to be a hot one, in ways other than weather-related, for Commercial Level D projects at ASTi. In 2010 to date, ASTi systems have achieved Level D sign-off on no less than five 737NG FFS simulators, with certifications by the FAA, JAA and CAA (UK). Of these, 4 are the latest generation Telestra 4 systems, while the odd one out was an existing Telestra 3 system, that was relocated and consequently re-certified. All Telestra 4 certifications used the internal ASTi-developed automated spectral analysis option to generate the certification plot data required by the authorities.
Additionally, the commercial order book is filling up with five Boeing 737NG and two Airbus A320 system orders in the year to date, with additional orders anticipated through the year-end. Several of these systems were delivered and are in integration and testing, and are expected to achieve certification well within 12 months of the initial order date. The addition of a number of new modeling objects to the Telestra 4 component set, including a studio-grade 5-Band Filter and sophisticated Compressor object, have introduced new modeling capabilities, allowing precise and effective control over many aspects of the audio delivered by the Telestra 4 system. These features and system tools, combined with a growing knowledge-base within the ASTi engineering team, have led to a significantly reduced effort during tuning of the system to meet the requirements for certification.
Looking to the future, ASTi is making progress with product developments aimed at meeting the requirements set forth in the ICAO9625 Edition 3 for an automated radio environment. This product development, currently identified as CADRE, will be previewed at the 2010 I/ITSEC tradeshow. Product release is currently anticipated to coincide with the April 2011 WATS tradeshow. Stay tuned for future announcements as ASTi moves forward with this new capability.
