Why would I need a Hand-Held Operator Terminal?

The ASTi Hand-Held Terminal (HHT) is an entry-level operator interface, providing an operator with the ability to control communications assets and facilities such as radios and intercom nets.
The problem of providing an operator with a means of controlling the communications assets assigned is one that is often overlooked, since in many situations and training environments this aspect is taken care of by simulated equipment provided as part of the trainer. However there are many situations in today's training doctrine that result in an operator requiring communications alone, perhaps only for the duration of a short training exercise, where the cost of dedicated communications hardware panels would be prohibitively expensive.
The ASTi Hand-Held Terminal provides a low cost reconfigurable interface that may be utilized to solve many common communications control problems. The combination of ASTi DACS, RIUs, headsets and HHTs provides a completely self-contained communications system requiring only mains power. The system is configured from a simple initialization-file making set-up very simple.
