Hardware FAQs
How will the DACS hold up to hostile environmental conditions?
Don't put it underwater or in a campfire and expect a DACS to work properly. Really.
Altitude Testing
One of our customers placed a DACS in a pressure chamber, and exercised it for 15 minutes at 15,000 feet. "The system remained operational throughout the test, as well as after the experiment was completed. No undue heating of the equipment was noticed." (That's a customer quote.)
Vibration Testing
The same customer also decided to put a DACS on a vibration table. We wonder if this customer enjoys beating up our equipment? "The test we ran on the DACS was to have it powered off (but connected to an RIU and two headsets), then start the shaker table. After a while, power up the DACS to see if it boots and verify that it's operational. This emulates what we'd need to do in flight if DACS #1 failed and we needed to power up DACS #2. It also emulates having to reboot while in flight. The tests were run with 0.5G, 0.7G, and 1.0G vibrations in both the horizontal and vertical axes. Everything worked fine!" (Yes, that's another customer quote.) |
