Radio FAQs
How do I simulate secure/clear communications with the radio?
Supply the radio with a non-zero crypto system and crypto key value in the appropriate control fields. The crypto system values denote KY-58, KY-100, etc in accordance with the DIS enumeration standards document.
The crypto system and crypto key values must match in order for radios to communicate. The exception to this rule is using the wildcard values of 65535 for crypto system and crypto key. This wildcard only applies when communicating between ASTi radios.
For MB versions prior to 4.06 the crypto system and key values were separate control objects that were driven by a host computer. For MB versions after 4.06 the crypto system is a fixed value that is applied on a per-mode basis in the radio object. The crypto system value is still driven by a host computer.
