How do you model intercom channels and can they be networked?

For a local intercom (within a single DACS) an intercom is very much like a virtual channel, such that any operator that has the intercom connected to a comm panel object can talk to any other with the same intercom object in their own comm panel. Multiple local intercoms may be added to the model to implement independent bus structures.
Networked intercom links may be implemented with little additional effort between DACS. The implementation uses a stripped down DIS radio object with all radio propagation effects turned off. Intercom channels are available in the range 1 through 100,000. The net intercom object requires that a channel number be selected, and that a world position be connected (though the position is not utilized). The net intercom object allows full duplex communication between users. Any user connected to a net intercom with a matching channel number will behave as if they are connected to the same intercom bus.
