Fifteen Trainers, Three Nations, One ASTi Solution

April 16, 2026

At the end of 2025, ASTi received contract awards from Pilatus in Switzerland to provide equipment for fifteen advanced turboprop aircraft trainers destined for use in French Air and Space Force, Belgian Air Force, and Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force initial pilot training. Each trainer will use two of ASTi's core products: the Telestra audio and communications system and Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA).

Telestra will provide crew and simulated radio communications as well as high-fidelity environmental sound and aural cues to make the training environment as realistic as possible. Using Telestra's development toolkit, Pilatus engineers will create and deploy aircraft-specific audio and communications models for each trainer.

SERA is a dynamic air traffic control (ATC) environment that generates realistic traffic and provides crew immersion and authentic workloads for pilot training at more than 10,000 airports and helipads worldwide. ASTi engineers will expand SERA's capabilities to include multiple European airfields for these training programs. After delivery, ASTi will work directly with program administrators and instructors to refine behaviors and procedures as part of ASTi's standard customer engagement and support.

While Telestra and SERA integrate seamlessly as ASTi products, both feature compliance with multiple simulation standards which facilitates integrating them with new or existing training devices. Working together, Telestra and SERA reduce the cost and complexity often associated with incorporating disparate subsystems into a fully functional flight simulator.

The Pilatus contracts mark a notable expansion of ASTi's presence in European defense training. Contact ASTi to learn more about Telestra, SERA, and ASTi's full array of industry-leading simulation products.
